A Place to Call Home

We’re reaching out with incredible news—our two families, who arrived just over a month ago seeking refuge from unimaginable terror and violence, have achieved a monumental milestone on their journey to a life filled with hope, peace, and opportunity here in Gainesville.

Imagine this: not long ago, these brave individuals were fleeing horrors we can only begin to comprehend. Today, they are settling into their very own homes, their children are flourishing in their new schools, and they’re mastering the ins and outs of our community. Soon, they will be starting their first jobs here in Gainesville—a true testament to their resilience and determination.

We are in awe of these families—the courage they’ve shown, the strength they’ve drawn upon, and the hope they’ve nurtured despite their harrowing past. They have touched the hearts of everyone they’ve met, and it is your generosity that has made their journey possible.

To those who have donated household items and supplies, who have given your time and energy to guide them through appointments, school visits, and community introductions—to those who have contributed financially—you have given them not just assistance, but a lifeline. Your kindness has transformed their lives, and they are deeply, deeply grateful.

We want to especially highlight our extraordinary volunteer, Danielle. With over 60 hours spent guiding these families—taking them to stores, exploring museums and parks, helping them adjust to life in a new culture—Danielle has been a beacon of compassion and inspiration. Her dedication is nothing short of remarkable, and we are so incredibly grateful to her.

But the journey doesn’t end here. These families still need your support as they continue to rebuild their lives. Your donations—whether of time, money, or resources—are more crucial than ever. Together, we can ensure that they not only survive but thrive in their new home.

And we have two new families joining us soon, fleeing the same violence and looking for the same hopeful future.

Please consider making a donation today. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a world of difference.

With deepest gratitude,

Greater Gainesville International Center
