About the Event
The Greater Gainesville International Center, in partnership with the Foundation for the Promotion of Music, present an afternoon of traditional Chinese music, led by Dr. Ting Dong from the University of Florida. The UF Chinese Ensemble is made up of traditional Chinese instruments including Pipa (a four-stringed plucked chordophone) and Erhu (a two-stringed bowed fiddle). Both have the history of more than 2,000 years. Their music spans many generations, including pieces originating from different ethnic groups in China and telling stories from the early Tang dynasty to modern era. Our musicians are faculty and students from different majors at UF. The event is free and open to the public. Support provided by the City of Gainesville Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs - a CAPRA accredited agency
